Loose Tea Leaves Nothing beats steeping loose tea leaves in a teapot. And these Loose Tea Leaves are extra special.

The leaves are a comination of jasmine, apple, and green tea. The combination of the sweet apple and jasmine bouquet combined with the freshness of Chinese & Indian green tea makes for a crisp and clean tea drinking experience.

20% of proceeds of sales for this product will go to City Harvest, a nonprofit organization that picks up excess food from restaurants, caterers, cafeterias, and others, and feeds the hungry and homeless.

The Last Place on Earth

March 23rd, 2008 · Conservation, National Geographic

The Last Place on Earth Two-Volume Box Set
The Last Place on Earth Two-Volume Box Set
is a remarkable gift set from National Geographic that documents one of the last pristine and undeveloped areas in central Africa: the 2000 mile stretch from Congo’s deep forests to Gabon’s pristine sea shore.

National Geographic photographer Michael ”Nick” Nichols and ecologist Mike Fay took a grueling 456-day voyage and captured on film this stunning set of photographs in an effort to preserve amazing wildlife that, with increasing industrialization, will not be there anymore in a few years.

The work was so significant it caused the government of Gabon to set aside 11 percent of the country’s interior rain forest as national parkland, creating 13 new national parks to protect virgin lands and wildlife.

This book is a joint venture between the National Geographic Society and the Wildlife Conservation Society and all proceeds go to Congo basin forest conservation.

Andy Warhol Rugs

March 20th, 2008 · Andy Warhol Foundation, Macys

Disclosure: We participate in the eBay Partner Network (EPN) meaning we may earn a commission when users click on links to eBay and make purchases.

UPDATE: It’s been over 10 years since this post was first written, so the rugs that Macys sold back in the day are long gone, having been discontinued.

If you’re looking for Andy Warhol rugs, eBay is a good source to find some excellent used ones. What’s nice, of course, is that very few people who purchased Andy Warhol rugs actually used them as “rugs”, so chances are you’ll be able to find one in really good condition.

The Andy Warhol Foundation is still very much active on eBay. Visit their storefront on eBay to find original memorabilia and artwork by Andy Warhol that is completely authentic and where proceeds go to support the Andy Warhol Foundation, which was established in 1987 in accordance with Andy Warhol’s will for the advancement of the visual arts.

Original post follows:

andy warhol rugs
Are you looking to accessorize a hardwood floor? You could go for the same old cookie-cutter rug from somewhere like Ikea or Bed Bath and Beyond.

Or you could check out this amazing set of rugs from Macy’s, and bring some beautiful artwork into your home. They are ground breaking designs directly influenced by actual artwork by Andy Warhol. A portion of proceeds from each of the designs goes to benefit the non-profit Andy Warhol Foundation.

The foundation was formed with funds from Warhols estate, and funds art edcation and special museum exhibitions for up and coming artists.

The design you see to the left is my personal favorite: Sphinx by Oriental Weavers “Setting Suns” Andy Warhol Area Rug, 4′ x 6′. It comes in multiple sizes you can choose from.

You can also choose a number of other beautiful styles.

NCAA Women's Basketball Pink T-Shirts (UConn, Rutgers, Maryland, LSU, Oklahoma, Duke, Ohio State, Georgia)

March 17th, 2008 · Breast Cancer, Foot Locker

I am a big fan of NCAA Women’s Basketball.

I love the men’s game, of course, but as the men’s game gets more and more influenced by big commercial interests and individual players vying for multi-million dollar NBA contracts, there’s just something about the women’s game that’s “pure”.

Coaches can deploy good, fundamental strategy, so you see games of good, old-school basketball without a lot of showboating. You have young women who are just playing for the love of the game, who for the most part will go on to regular careers after their playing days.

And of course, I may be influenced by the fact that I’m a Rutgers Scarlet Knight, and that our Women’s team is the pride and joy of all of New Jersey.

On this Selection Monday, if you’re a NCAA Women’s Basketball fan of one of these teams, Foot Locker has T-Shirts that’ll let you shout out your pride and help the fight against breast cancer at the same time.

1) UConn Lady Huskies T-Shirt

UConn Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

2) Rutgers Scarlet Knights T-Shirt

Rutgers Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

3) Maryland Lady Terrapins T-Shirt

4) LSU Lady Tigers T-Shirt

5) Oklahoma Sooners T-Shirt
Oklahoma Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

6) Duke Blue Devils T-Shirt
Duke Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

7) Ohio State Buckeyes T-Shirt
Ohio State Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

8) Georgia Lady Bulldogs T-Shirt
Georgia Nike Women’s Think Pink Tee

I’m not sure why there’s not a Tennessee or UNC shirt available, but I’m sure you folks won’t have problems finding a shirt elsewhere 😉

Bonus: until April 5, 2008, Foot Locker has a special allowing you to enjoy 15% off with no minimum purchase! Use Code LKS18M55

How to Stop Junk Mail and Save the Trees

March 14th, 2008 · Conservation, GreenDimes

How to stop junk mail
Looking for how to stop junk mail coming to your mailbox? Here’s a very cool new idea from a new organization called Greendimes.

I’m sure it’s happened to you. You order from one mail order or Internet company. Then, suddenly you get another catalog in the mail. Pretty soon your mail is filled with all kinds of catalogs and offers.

Why does this happen? Because when you buy from most retailers, they take your name and address and sell it to brokers who compile lists of names, who sell it right back to other companies to market to you.

For a one-time fee of only $20, GreenDimes will get your name off of dozens of these junk mail lists. It will reduce the amount of junk mail you get to your home by upwards of 90%!

I like a couple things about GreenDimes. First, unlike a lot of similar companies, they are completely legitimate. A lot of companies that claim to stop junk mail, believe it or not, will actually resell your information! But GreenDimes has been highlighted by CNN, the New York Times, ABC, Business Week, Women’s Day, and the Ellen Show.

The second thing I like is that not only do they stop the needless waste of extra paper in your mailbox that ends up in a landfill somewhere, they go the extra mile. For every catalog they stop, they plant a tree. Specifically, part of your payment will go to non-profit tree-planting partners: American Forests, Sustainable Harvest International and Trees for the Future to plant trees in India, Haiti, Senegal, throughout Central America and in the U.S.

It’s a great idea that helps you and helps the world!
